So someone just gave me the car. I only want it for driving out to the country to go biking and maybe a long-term summer trip. I want to park it someplace safe for free (or almost free), which could be a bus ride away in the suburbs.
Anyone have any ideas?

The Parking Garages owned by the City of Evanston may be an option. I dont think they are outrageously expensive.

If that's all you plan on using the car for, sell it and get a car-sharing membership.

that idea would be plenty feasible in the winter months but from april to november street cleaning will prevent you from leaving it on the street for more than a couple weeks at a time. i could immediately see the people who do that in my neighborhood after the first couple of street cleanings, they were the ones with the boot on their tire.
