Do Division Street Fest on Centerstage Chicago - Do Division Street Fest : 1600 W. Division St., Chicago, (312) 850-9390, Festivals, Music Club, Festivals & Fairs, Kids Encouraged,Live Music - Chicago City Life in Chicago, Illinois

I meant to go today but went to Indie Arts Fair on Southport instead. I didn't go to last year's Do Division but they seem to have poured a lot of dough into it this year. I'm wondering if it's the kind of thing I should plan on attending for most of the day or can I conceivably enjoy the festival in an hour or so. Any must hit booths?

I was dropping off my Netflix movie at the Division Ashland Post Office and I ran into it today... Got in FREE as I said I was passing through to get to the Post Office. Interesting food there but it was expensive. I talked to a white guy named Charles who hangs out around Wicker Park for awhile... then looked at all the booths. Highlight was winning a $10 Dave & Buster's Coupon! It was an ok fair to people watch... Man,... I'm so LUCKY to live in Wicker Park RENT FREE!!!

I went there in DUDE mode in my totally Alpha 2000 Diamondback Venom! When kids see this bike THEY WANNA STEAL IT!

Oh,.. and this pic and post is proof that I live in Chicago now!

"Do Division" sounds like some kind of nerdy math competition.

hm, I didn't know it wasn't free. lmao oops. Husband and I just kinda walked in on Hoyne, around a barrier. I figured it was to block traffic.

We got burritos and lemonade, bought one of those music "family tree" posters, and left. No need for alcohol, and there was so much cigarette smoke in the air that my husband's sinuses and lungs decided that they didn't want him to breathe properly. It was neat, though. We listened to Viva Voche while we ate. We would have stayed longer if my husband would have known to use his nasocort or whatever it's called before we got there.

"Do Division?"

Ukrainian Village and East Ukrainian Village are now officially on the path of a bland yuppie Lincoln Park like takeover.

I went for a bit the other day. It wasn't too bad. The $5 is optional, so getting in for free isn't necessarily something to brag about.

We ended up going late this morning after brunch. I think only about half the booths were set up since the bands didn't start until 2. I would've liked to have gone this evening for Menomena but with the little one rock concerts are a bit prohibitive. Lots and lots of yuppies and $600 strollers. It wasn't exactly representative of the neighborhood, if that is what the intention was. But, with the prices they were asking for PBR, food and knick knacks I am not surprised that most of the younger residents weren't jiving with it. Parking was a sinch though and since we snuck in without paying it was a cheap way to spend the morning.
