This is why people with kids love Hyde Park so much. Since it's a University community there is ample representation of every type of lifestyle, including many stay at home dads. There is no official network (which is a nice idea but awkward). By convention everyone with very young kids goes to Bixler Park across from the Medici. It is completely fenced in and safe. The kids wear each other out playing while the adults hang out, drink coffee, chat, and then take turns leaving to run errands (while the group watches their kids). My wife would have died of loneliness without such a place.

Not suggesting a move to Hyde Park, just pointing out the value of community.

I'm not going to join a brigdge group with the neighbors for instance, since none of them are home during the day. I also live in a very dense area surrounded by high-rises, so it's not one of Chicago's more neighborly kid-friendly streets.

Just sayin'.
Hmmm... I seem to have conveniently forgotten that advice. But it would have been too late anyway.

My husband is staying at home with our 4 month old daughter. Would you be interested in forming a play group or maybe trying a babysitting arrangement? If so please send me a note jesswingader@gmail.com
It could be a welcome break for all involved!

There is no shame of being a stay home dad, what guy wouldn't want to eat pizza all day and watch sports!!

Get a sugar momma, women have been getting sugar daddies for a long time, I say we reverse the trend.
