Coming to Chicago for one night. Staying at the Wyndham on N Saint Clair St. Looking for a nice place to eat on a Monday night, within walking distance. We are from DC, so don't really need the "big city" experience, but was thinking maybe something with a view. Cost not too important, but we will have a six year old. Husband is a huge foodie...seafood mostly.

Seems silly, when you live on the coast, to head 600-700 miles inland & go looking for seafood...

Very true on the seafood thing. But he doens't eat anything but..not only is he a foodie he is a health food freak...not much meat at all. Not even chicken, sorts of limit it. Personally I'll take a good steak or pizza any day!

He will do meat and chicken in ethnic dishes which makes it easier.
M&S is all over the place here, so he won't do that.

But thanks for the suggestion...

Not to mention M&S is incredibly mediocre.

Check out this place. LTHForum.com • Index page

Those people eat out way more than we do. You'll get some good advice there. I'd offer up Roys (Roy’s Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine) though. Very good, and sounds like its up your husband's alley. Then again, you can find those in a few other cities. There's also Devon seafood on Chicago and Wabash. Heard it's alright, but I haven't been there personally before.

Great suggestion!

As for M&S, why would you go to a nationwide chain that has no view?

For a nice view you might try Spaggia. Mantusso is turning out some good stuff. It's also a good place for people watching. It was a favorite place for the Obamas, Cardinal Bernadine and visiting actors.

You may also want to consider the Cape Cod Room at the Drake Hotel. It's one of Chicago's oldest restaurants (been there since 1933) and has played host to some of Old Hollywood's greatest stars. Many would carve their initials into the wooden bar, including Marilyn Monroe, Joe DiMaggio, Bob Hope and others.
