To me this looks like a lot of speculation with nothing but cherry-picked anecdotal evidence and hunches to back it up. Maybe she's right but the article doesn't do much for me.

I blame a few main things that have destroyed the Black community therefore leading to at least 40 shootings this weekend alone(and its not over yet).

1. Great Society-This hurt us more than it benefited us.
2. Lack of fathers in the home. This is partly due to the welfare legislation back in the 60s but family values were already deteriorating for all Americans well before the mid-60s.
3. Loss of manufacturing jobs. The best way up the income ladder was to start yourself at the bottom and work your way up with hard work. Not everyone is equal in intelligence and not everyone is equal in technical/mechanical skills. This was a great way for someone to earn a living without having to attend college(which is nothing more than a sham now.)
4. Illegal Immigration, even though the race-hustling hypocrites Jackson and Sharpton support this, this has really hurt us and will create a dire situation within 20 years for our undereducated brothers.

Without a stable family, positive-role models, hope of employment(even with clean records), and with generational welfare, many have no choice but to commit crimes and sell drugs. School performance would have been much better if most of these kids had 2 parents at home who valued education. Blacks were much more poor before the 70s but had strict parents and neighbors who cared for the children and valued an eduation. This isn't an excuse, just the sad reality of what has been going on for over 40 years. I hate to say but we haven't seen anything yet.
