After getting a ticket for having an abandoned car (not moved in 7 days) I am a little nervous to leave it in the street since I've learned you can technically get a ticket every day after day 7.

What are some decent options to leave it for 25 days. I could leave it at the airport but that will run upwards of $200 and we are flying out of MDW and into ORD so its not even that convenient.

I have been reading that CTA has some lots which allow 24 hour parking. Howard for example is $4 per day. Anybody know how it works. It it like the airport where you get a ticket going in and pay when leaving and they would then just charge me $4 x 25 days.

Any other options.

One option is to make friends with someone that access to a garage.

It is entirely possible to park your car in a "for profit" type garage and pay only the "maximum lost ticket" price if some one can check on the car / shift it around so that the firm that runs it does not think you have abandoned the vehicle. I see cars like that in many garages.

An even safer option is to find someone that rents a space and use that.

You can pay me $100 bucks and I will move it around every few days thus avoiding a ticket.

how could a person really know if you havent moved your car in 7 days (unless its in winter and there is still snow on it from 2 weeks before)? I park in the same spot all the time and only move my car once a week or so.

The City of Chicago parking enforcement people have those little ticket machines and they note the location of cars. If the same car comes up in the same place for more than a week it gets ticketed. After three tickets it is boot / tow eligible. Through in a street cleaning and that thing is as good as gone...

So you cant continually park in the same space? That is stupid. If I ever got a ticket for that I would freak out
