I have heard there are many wasps in the older North Shore areas such as Highland Park, Deerfield, Lake Forest, and Northbrook. Some have even told me there are many at the beaches in these areas during the day and that the parks are loaded with them in the sand and grass.
Is this true and how much of a problem is it?

Insects need water, air and a place to roost/sleep. Some live in the ground and some live in trees. A good exterminator will spray inside your house and out. End of problem. Repeat as needed and keep a can of Wasp spray handy. They are easy to kill at night as they are night sleepers. Do not allow standing water near your house.
