Logan Boulevard stops at Kedzie, as you continue west the street reverts back to Wrightwood. Wrightwood right off of Kedzie is fine, but your gf will likely want to walk on the Bouelvard and to go to the restaurants on California, and as the pedestrian traffic is generally heaviest between California (2800 W) & Kedzie (3200 W), it can feel a lot safer.

There are some really nice streets just north of Logan Blvd on the 2700 N blocks.

That's funny, I was a 23 year old 5'11" 170lb male who moved into that exact same 2400 block of Kedzie about 9 years ago.

I lived there for 3 years and never even remotely had an issue. I'm sure stuff goes down, but I found it very clean, safe and enjoyable. Maybe don't go wander around the side streets and alleys alone at 3am, but I came home from the Blue Line DOZENS of times at 2am, 3am, 4am, 5am and was never bothered if I just stuck to Kedzie.

ABout 12 years ago I used to get off the subway at logan park and transfer to the Diversy bus.

I rememebr something funny.
I was working late a few nights in the winter.
So I'd be coming home around 11 at night and there were some pretty shady characters hanging around the the stop.

Because of the cold winters I would put some heavy boots on to keep warm and the snow offf my good shoes. I'm riding the escalator up and a guy in an old army jacket engages me in conversation.

Him; "nice boots."
Me; "uhhhm, thanks"
Him; "I have a knife"
Me, looking him in the eye; "No thanks, I don't think I'll trade"

I had been working 14 hour days and was too tired to mess around. I'm thinking; if you want to mug me, fine. But at least put some effort into it, otherwise forget it.

Well put. I'll second this. I used to liver a little further west, and south than the OP is looking at, and would again with no problem - not to mention kedzie/fullerton.

have you tried looking in the paper? Don't people list rentals in the Sun Times or Trib anymore?
