I don't have a memory of him what with him being a recluse and all but my favorite film of his is Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

59 is awfully young nowadays. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

In what Chicago neighborhood (or suburb) did he currently reside?

Someone earlier in this forum called him "a recluse". Where did you get that info? Just curious as I wasn't aware.

Well part of the time he spent growing up was in Northbrook. He graduated from Glenbrook North High School.

According to Wiki via Variety magazine, "In 1994, Hughes retired from the public eye and moved to Wisconsin..."

OK. I just found an obscure blog reference on another forum, can't link it due to tech problem, that says he lived in Williams Bay, WI near Lake Geneva.

Don't know if this is correct info..

He certainly liked using Chicago locations in many of his films. I have always thought Ferris Bueller was more a tribute to Chicago than anything else.
