I know I am normally a pretty staunch advocate of Pilsen on this forum but I just almost got killed by Harrison Park with my partner and my toddler. We were driving out from gymnastics at the park at 6:15 when some 14 year old idiot with a semi-automatic stepped out onto Paulina and pointed his weapon at us. I have been mugged before but never carjacked so my instincts told me that car beats gun. It might not have been the smart thing but I hit the gas all grease lightning style intending to either drive over him or have him jump out of my way. He did the latter.

Once I got my bearings back I called the cops but I doubt they'll find him. What kind of ****ing moron tries to carjack a woman and small child in front of a park at 6 in the afternoon? Glad to see Sunday's "Stop the Shooting" march in Pilsen did a load of good.

Damn, I hate car thieves.

Any thief actually.
I've had my share with them.

Good thing his reaction wasn't to shoot...
Which means I'm glad you and your kid weren't hurt.

Forreal though.. I'm glad it didn't go worst.

Out of everyone in the city, you where a victim.

Jesse, I have a ten year old Forester. Don't get any ideas about jacking it, I'm a seasoned pro now.

yeah that is crazy. Thank god you made it out alright. I use to live across from Harrison Park and I cant believe that would happen at 6pm in the summer -That park is usually pretty busy. How did the cops react to it? Since you werent lucky enough to run him over I hope the cops find him

Thanks Venom and Coldwine. I was so indignant when I got home that I just needed to vent.

It's not the crime that pisses me off so much as the feelings of fear it has imbibed me with. I'm supposed to go back for class again next week and now I don't know if I should park on 18th and walk or not go at all in case this kid tries this crap again.

The dispatcher asked me to describe what he was wearing and as soon as I told her he had a bandanna pulled up over his mouth and nose she asked me to describe it in detail. I'm sure they are used to people reporting gang members so it's easier to find someone that way, especially considering that every teenage male wears triple XL shirts. The bandanna was either navy blue or black and white. I don't know whose colors those are but that area is Satan Disciples territory, no?

Aside from asking for a description the dispatcher seemed uninterested. I thought a big semi-auto in the street with hundreds of kids playing near by might get some rise out of her.
