In the past I would always invite my friends to Venetian night. My wife and I would take our bikes, cooler, and lawn chairs on the EL from the suburbs and set up a parameter on the lake front near monroe harbor. This year we decided to do the air & h2o instead. I've never done this show before. What should I expect?

This site:

Chicago Air & Water Show

says the show starts at 10AM

Do I really need to be there that early?

Where should we set up our compound?

Can I bring beer/wine?

Any suggestions about bring our dog?

No, you don't need to be there that early, unless you really want a spot on North Avenue Beach. It's almost best to see it from a little further away (though you can't hear the announcements about what plane it is) because it's not as crowded. My favorite vantage point is Diversey Harbor, and the dog will have some room to move around if you do that. If you want to be in the heart of the action, it's good to be on North Avenue Beach somewhere, but it'll be crowded.

it's the same, mostly, show that they have every year at March Air Reserve Base in CA. We went every year. Just cause we moved doesn't mean we won't go see it! There's a hella lot more people at this show, though!

I walked over since I'm trapped not being about to move my car all day. The helicopter guy was pretty impressive.
