I'm coming to Chicago from the UK next Monday (September 14) for 3 weeks or so (my stay in the States is 3 months although I plan to go to California at some point). Looking for a studio as close to the centre of Chicago as possible, not bothered about age of the building so long as it's clean and secure. Obviously outside space (eg a balcony) would be a bonus).

I should point out I am a musician (saxophone) and will be practising a few hours during weekdays (not in the evening), although I use a mute to dampen the sound considerably. Other than that potential problem I'm a clean, reliable and considerate tenant.

Budget max $500 per month (obviously pro rata if I only stay 2-3 weeks).

Perhaps this is a long shot but no harm in posting to see what is out there - I like to spread my net wide! Anyway, please PM me if you have or know of anything.

Many thanks!

I would suggest posting an add on www.craigslist.com. I once did this to rent an apartment in Miami Beach for $300 for a week and it worked! Check out www.chicagoreader.com. Best of luck to ya!

What they mean to say is you are going to have to come up with more than that amount to rent anything in Chicago.

In Chicago, there is usually an inverse relationship between the amount of rent and safety of the neighborhood.

The Niles YMCA is the only branch that offers temporary short-term rentals but it is not in your price range. Nice place though.
