I like to go for long walks in the late evening sometimes. I prefer the late evening because it's calmer and quieter out, the heat of the day is over and I generally don't have to be at work or running errands at that time.

What are some neighborhoods or strips that are safe to walk in the dark and are at least a little interesting to look at? As far as safety, I am talking about safe walking from dusk until around 11 pm for a lone non-elderly man or a couple who are very alert to their surroundings. I'd like to hear about anywhere in Chicago or inner-ring suburbs. Of course pedestrian-friendly/-centric areas are better. A little foot traffic/street life for people-watching is a plus.

Where do you feel safe or enjoy walking around when it's dark out, but not super late?

^^I don't know about Pulaski at North. I'd walk it in the day but typically don't walk around west of Kedzie after dark and I'm city savvy and hispanic.

OP, anywhere along the lakefront from Pratt south to the Midway Plaisance is walkable and generally safe.

I don't walk; I take a short bike cruise and sometimes freestyle on my bmx bike through the Wicker Park neighborhood. Sometimes I hang out at Wick Park Park and talk to people there. Why walk when biking is WAY FASTER!

Default for me

Palmer Park is where I walk evenings with my dog. It is nice like the burbs but very easily accessible from the city.
