I ended up filing an Illinois Consumer Complaint on the Illinois state website. I got a call from ComEd about 3 days later apologizing for the mixup and they removed the charges immediately. I didn't even have to give them the info of the other tenants.

So much for people saying I should've paid it and that it was my fault...

I know; right? If you didn't incur the charge and you did everything you should have done, why should you fork out the money? Of course you know those people would feel differently if this had happened to them.

Glad this worked out for you and to see that some state government is still working for the consumer.

I am facing a similar issue that #myr60 was facing soem time bak. Can you suggest the website that helped in getting this resolved.

Call com ed back, explain (again) with the paperwork to back it up the the "csr". Make sure you tell her/him that (after you get her name) that if this isn't taken care of you will be forwarding it to the ICC (Illinois commerce commission). Edison absolutely does not want like ICC complaints, especially if they are legitimate.
