So if everything is adding up the way we think, the mother intentionally harmed the child?

My opinion is that sometimes you find a really creative journalist who uses one incident to to attempt to write an award winning article. Let's face it we don't currently have a Mike Royko or Bob Woodward in Chicago. .
So what's really at play is that there is an unnamed journalist using this event to write an award winning article.

Deep.

So what if we took a baby stroller and attached it to a very large silver helium balloon? Paydirt, baby!

No. Looking at the reports it seems the child wasn't harmed at all (which is part of what is really suspicious). At this point it looks like the mother may have put the baby in danger (by placing her on the tracks) in order to either get attention or sue the CTA for $.

In fairness to her, the child had some physical ailments.

The child had physical ailments so......? Did the mother do this to get money for hospital bills or did she do it in the hopes the child would be hurt and she wouldn't have to deal with the circumstances?

^ How do we know the stroller was not caught in the doors without the baby in it and then the woman laid the baby on the track area? Just because there is paint on the stroller and marks on the guardrail does not prove the baby was in the stroller. ^
