I'm looking to get out of my family plan and get my own individual plan.

I work in Lake County but live in the north side of the city. My question is, is it better for me to activate a phone (Verizon Wireless) in Lake County? The taxes in purchasing the phone will be cheaper, but I'm wondering if getting an 847 area code will give me a lower monthly balance as opposed to getting a 312 or 773 area code.

Btw, I can provide a billing address in the 847 area.

You can live in and activate a phone with a city area code in the suburbs.
You will not pay city taxes for a city area code. It all goes by the billing address.

^That is not entirely true. I lived in Homewood when I first activated my cellphone and paid taxes/911 fees for Homewood. I have since moved to two different cities and still pay Homewood taxes/911 fees. Maybe it depends on the company.

I just use a prepaid (Net 10) when you activate your phone you add your zip code and they give you the appropriate area code.
