I've done it several times after large events, but never on, like, a random Tuesday night. Are there any safety issues? What about different parts of the path? Typically I'm between Belmont and Monroe, but if I go further south or north am I askign for trouble at 10PM?

I googled and found a single SunTimes article about people getting jumped for their bikes, but didn't know how prevelant that was or if it was more of their outstanding dramatic journalism.

The bigger problem is seeing people who don't put enough lights and reflectors on their bikes.

I've never felt in danger of any crime along the lake front path, at least up to 10 pm.

Your biggest danger at 11 pm will be dodging the CPD squad cars that drive up and down the path to make sure people are out of the park.

The Lakefront Path is very safe at night, in my opinion. But I agree with others make sure you and your bike are well lit.

I've ridden the south side bike path at night many times and never had any problems. Get some lights, though, as a courtesy to other bikers.
