I am looking for a M.S. program in Computer Science. Here are the schools I am looking for:
Northwestern and UChicago are good, but beyond my capability.
IIT, Loyola, and UIC may be good fit, but I am not quite familiar with them.

What's your general opinions about these colleges? How's college life on these campus? How about their reputation and recognition in the industry?
Please give me some ideas. Thanks!!

When thinking about pursuing a Master's program in Comp Sci or anything that is strongly aligned with a particular career the MOST important thing that you can do is determine the sort of success that grads have in the marketplace.

If you are going to pursue this program as a "terminal" program or have hopes to earn a PhD down the road that is also very important. Similarly if you want to do pursue this full time or while working that is yet another concern.

I know that MOST of the schools you citing have MULTIPLE options, as does UIC and NIU -- depending on what your ultimate goals are it may even make sense to think of other schools a bit further away - UIUC is generally regarded as one the strongest CS schools in the wider region...

Have you tried visiting the schools and speaking with alumni?

Yes, and the Loyola alumni speak highly of their school.

My husband started at Loyola and transferred to UIC for mathmatical computer sciences. UIC was much better than Loyola and is one of the top ranked programs in the country. There's really no reason to go anywhere else in Chicago for computer science given the price and its reputation in the field.

If you're willing to look outside of Chicago, UIUC has an even better repututation.

I'm in a Ph.D. program at UIC and am really impressed with the school, so definitely consider it. It also offers a lot more bang for your buck than the others.

My fiance goes to school at UIC and loves it. A lot of the other schools mentioned have a steep price tag in comparison, so you may want to take that into consideration.
