Maybe this is what you meant, but I think this will take just under an hour door-to-door from a hotel by Midway to the stadium. The train ride itself from Midway airport to the Roosevelt station is only about 20 minutes.

Look on Hotwire.com. You can get a 3 star in Oak Lawn near Midway (I think it is the Oak Lawn Hilton) for a few bucks over $100.

I can find several nice options near Midway. From my map, it appears that the Midway area hotels would be a more convienient option than those around O'Hare? Not to mention the obvious bonus of avoiding the O'Hare traffic mess.

There will six of us driving in that day. Would it be better to drive our SUV to Soldier Field and park there or find a cab from the hotel and back again?
Don't bother driving. Traffic will be a mess before/after the game. I take it that you would be spending part of the day downtown before the game?

If so, in the morning,/early afternoon, take the Blue Line from O'Hare or Orange from Midway down for cheap.

If you choose cabs...
You can get a six person minivan cab from your hotel....just make sure you have them request it. Coming back from Soldier Field, keep an eye out for such cabs, but you will probably have to split it between two groups.

Palmer House Hilton, may be a short cab ride. But if marathon is going on it may be tough.

Yes, that's what I meant. Thanks for specifying. I usually use door-to-door times for travel guidelines, since that's how long it actually takes.
