I think there are still one or two hold out peep shows in the area, though honestly I think you would be gouging your eyes out (and searching for your wallet) if you had to really look at em everyday. As I recall several had logos that made the silhouettes on mud flaps seem tasteful and all the grace of a blow-up doll...

I do not think there are any with "live" dancers in River North. Although there may be a couple that have video booths.

There used to be one with a peep show by Diversey on Broadway that I used to go to. That one was hit or miss. There were a few very hot girls I saw there though.

For the look/feel of Shadyside, Lincoln Park (especially around Armitage) or Old Town are a close match. However, they're several times more expensive.

If my wife was looking to work in a salon in that area or in town, would it be accessible. I know there are a lot of good high end salons in river north, so would it be an easy commute from, lets say Lincoln Park or Old Town?

Commuting to RN from either of those two areas would take 10-30 minutes.

Seems to me like there are pricey salons everywhere now, although I guess the critical mass of them is indeed on the near north side. Lincoln Park and Old Town are just a little further north, along the same roads/transit lines.
