I agree the cities are very different. Chicago is a midwestern city. It is big with a lot to offer but it is not a coastal city feel like NYC or SF. Many like or prefer it, many don't, and many in between.

SF is one of the best cities in the U.S. period. Chicago is also a great city, very very different from SF.

Some wonderful different neighborhoods in city of Chicago. It is nowhere near as aesthetically pleasing as SF overall from a natural standpoint but does have a very nice downtown and lakefront area.

I was talking size-wise. Sure San-Fran has just as much to do, but the pickings are slimmer.

And there is zero comparing Chicago winters to ATL etc...zero.
No spring? Hmmm, May seemed to be the perfect example of spring if I ever saw one, minus the rain. 60's, 70's and a few 80's are about as spring as you get. And the south might be beautiful in the spring, but the rest of the year its a daggone sauna. Screw that! And SF's weather is better, but not by much. It never gets truly warm for extended periods in SF. And besides, good weather doesnt mean a thing when youre sitting on a timebomb that is the San Andreas.

Also, Chicago's averages almost 60% sunshine throughout the months. Jan and Feb are the cloudiest, even then there is still a 50% chance of sunshine. One out of 2 days isnt bad. Oh, also, in the summer sunshine percentage is almost 70% at times, which is not shabby whatsoever. And we get less rain than the southern cities.

Steve, you are a blind Chicago homer and that is fine. I am not and I will be objective.

I say Chicago winters don't compare to the South....and that is true...you respond by saying....in defensive fashion of course, that well the other time of year is this and that....when did I discuss other times of the year?

It actually does get truly warm inparts of the Bay area...try East Bay.

You are determined to say Chicago is the greatest place ever on this board with no shortcomings, and in the process be defensive and point ou shortcomings of other places. And that is totally your right....but itis funny whenthe topic was winter in Chicago compared to ATL....you somehow come up with Andreas fault...etc....perhaps some counseling would help you with your earthquake paranoia? Because I see how relevant it was when compaing Chicago winter to ATL.

It's a huge stretch to defend Spring in Chicago.

Chicago's downtown and neighborhoods are way vastly larger than SF's, therefore, naturally, there are bound to be MORE of a certain thing in Chicago than there is in SF. Thats what I was trying to get at.

Also, we have pro basketball, pro hockey, 2 pro baseball teams, etc.

And youre a SF homer, how does that make you different?

I just think its funny that people think sunbelt cities are immune to super cold weather. I stated that ATL experiences snow and freezing cold temps, although not on the scale or longevity that Chicago does. How many times do I need to state that? And I brought up other times of the year because youre so stuck on saying how "bad" Chicago's winter weather gets, so I played your little game and stated how "bad" ATL's summers get. Every place has bad weather, so why single out Chicagos and come on here and say how much better it is in SF??? Noone cares. I also mentioned the San Andreas fault because what use is good weather in San Fran when the city crumbles to dust? If and when the time comes when SF gets hit with a quake, all the good weather in the world wont mean a thing.

Also, Im allowed to be a homer on the CHICAGO BOARD. Go be a homer on the SF board.

2 pro baseball teams in Bay Area, Pro Hockey, Pro Basketball, Pro Football,

Major Universities as well with sports teams. And all of the other things mentioned.

Couldn't disagree more iwth your thoughts.

I am far from a San Francisco homer. You sound desperate. Does living in Chicago make me a SF homer?

I am not stuck on anything. When people ask about the weather I amswer honsetly.

You are ay too emotional and defensive when people speak objectively of weather short-comings in Chicago.

Again with Earthquake stuff...pretty juvenile don't ya think?

Chicago has great summers(others complain about the heat in Chicago in summer, I haven't)....albeit short summers. Early winter and fall are fine. Janueary through the end of May are not. And, Chicago is not a very sunny city in general. Those are facts.

BTW...the low temp for Atlanta in 2006 was 19 ....and a week later temps were in mid to high 70's.

No comparison with Chicago, none.

Because you are on the Chicago board you canand should be a homer....? sigh...

We'll just agree to disagree.

And the percentage of sunshine is not bad whatsoever.
