Hi All

We are hopefully relocating to Illinois in 2011 and need to know where people believe is the best suburb to move to. Would look to be about 2-3 hours max outside Chicago if poss. We have two children, one son aged 16 into Rugby big style and has good knowledge of football but really difficult to find a club in our rural area. Daughter is aged 19 and is about to qualify as a beautician. We also have two large dogs who would relocate with us, so living within the city is not an option at the moment. Any ideas? We are all very exited about this.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

theres at least 200 different cities, you probably have to be more specific in what you want as a house and community.

Best subs are always up for debate, but these are a few that are consistently considered the most expensive, most prestigious, and have some of the best school districts:

Lake Forest
Lake Bluff
Glenco
Hinsdale
Wilmette
Glenview
NorthBrook
etc

Where you go will depend on several factors- such as what work you do, how far you want to live from work, etc. Tell me where you need to be based from, how much you can afford for housng, and what kind of place it is you'd like, and I can help with choosing a town.

Hello Talullah,

I agree with the prior replies, that you need to determine some additional specifics about what you are looking for in a location. The towns mentioned by the Lincolnparker are wonderful, but they can be pricey. Especially if you want a larger yard for the dogs.

I live in the Fox Valley and I love it here. There are many adorable communities along the Fox River that have quaint architecture, great parks (including dog parks!) restaurants, shopping, even smaller cultural venues (although Chicago is your best bet for Theatre & museums) It is about 50 minutes to the heart of the city and close to the expressways for easy access to the airports ( about 45 mins to O'Hare and 1 hour to Midway). And there are commuter train lines available in Geneva or Elgin.
Look up Saint Charles, Geneva, Batavia and see what you think. I also like Glen Ellyn and Wheaton for nice places to live.

Talullah,

I live in Glen Ellyn (and I'm an agent as well), but if you are looking for more of a country feel (big dogs run around), you probably need to look further west, perhaps St. Charles or even Elburn. Let me know if you need help.

^ Why is your name Bucktown Dale if you live in Glen Ellyn? ^
