There is way too much ignorance on this page to respond to all (with the exception of Tex' post). So I shall respond to one...

I did. Thank the heavens. I'm just trying to warn others who may be considering it because previously, all I heard about living in Chicago was how beautiful it is and how friendly the people are. It's all a facade. Honestly, Chicago is the nexus of the universe. The people are mind-boggling ignorant and their sensibilities and morals are rotten to the core (like the above poster regarding "blacks" and their "awful neighborhoods") All I'm saying is, if you weren't raised with the midwest mentality, you will never understand the midwest mentality. It's more backwards than most parts of the South, yet they for some reason have this heir of superiority that condescends to anyone with alternate beliefs. Chicago is not what it pretends to be. Keep that in mind before making the move.

If that was the case, you'd fit right in.

But you realize this "ignorance" is just people that live there and don't feel the way you do. They don't hate it.

Honestly I don't understand this projection some people have where a certain place in their minds/experience is HORRIBLE TERRIBLE HELL ON EARTH, and they want the validation from the local population that it's a fact.

If you don't like something - change!

Go visit. Don't think about moving there. You'll regret it, especially this time of year, trust me.
So this is what I got form you..."If you take away everything good from a city, it's bad."

Those three years were probably a strain on Chicago.

Chicago is too crowded already, so don't let the door hit you where the dog should'a bit you.

Yep, that's been my experience. Chicago truly is a city with a split personality.
