"There's no grass, there's a barbershop, there's a sneaker store, there's a liquor store and a bunch of Coca-Cola everywhere."

This is what Lupe says he saw in Africa, that reminds him of the west side. I suspect scholars and social workers worldwide will soon be knocking at Lupe's door for more of his profound insight and revelation.

Considering those in Haiti slums had resorted to eating mudcakes to ward off starvation a year before the earthquake hit, I'd say there's a rather large difference between being poor in Chicago and poor in the third world.

Default chicago should be like ny

OReily may be just trying get ratings. He can clearly read as he has an MBA from Harvard. Clearly, the south side of Chicago, even black ghettos like Englewood, Garfield Park, Austin and North Lawndale are far better off than third world countries.

NY shipped its problems out and gentrified from within. Chicago has done that to a lesser extent, particularly in the south side, with a large project planned for 22nd and state (mixed income most likely with mostly yuppies as yuppies like living around other people who pay rent and don't collect govt payments). Out of sight and out of mind. Let someone else deal with the ghetto people that have dragged down Chicago for far too long. I would like to see more of this in Humboldt Park with people from Bucktown and Logan forcing out some of the bad elements currently present, but this will take time.

So we should force out the poor too?

I agree. This type of news figure is really just for entertainment. I'm sure he's a bright guy (though an MBA from Harvard doesn't move me much), I don't harbor any great resentment toward him, and I occasionally hear him make a reasonable point that others are too PC to admit, but it's mostly just formulaic bluster and facile liberal-bashing. Someone has learned that nuance and depth don't really attract viewers, so it's sort of a lowest common denominator thing. I pay no attention to him unless I'm really bored and channel flipping in a hotel.

A law degree from Harvard Law School does not prove to me much either. I smell B.O.

Why would he do that? I thought Rush told us not to donate!?

no offense janelle but c'mon now. People will just feed into the propaganda and people will believe averything they see or hear and not look it to it themselves. They call it faux news and sly fox for a reason.

yep let some other town deal with it eventhough their police force is probably not capable of doing so. Not to mention ALOT of these "ghetto people" are going to towns that already got their own problems so the result will be gang and turf war, tensions among residents and more. Yep great idea
