Clark Street Ale house is one of my favorite places. They have a great beer and whiskey selection. They do not serve food. There are also some other places in the area if you want food or need a change of scenery. If you're really into trying different whiskey's there are some cool whisky bars in different parts of Chicago. Hope you enjoy your trip!!

Most bars tend to be pretty busy on Friday and Saturday nights, but if you get there a little early you can usually get a table or stake out a spot that isn't too crazy.

In the area you're staying there will be a big after work crowd at most places, Clark St. Ale House is definitely worth checking out, Celtic Crossing across the street is decent as well. I also like the Kerryman and O'Callaghan's on Hubbard. The Gage on Michigan Ave. has a good bar if you're going to be heading down to Millenium Park. You could also take the Red Line up to the Goose Island brewery, they have some excellent beers that you can only get there, along with a good whiskey selection.

Speaking of Excalibur, there is a cool story in the Sun Times about the club Limelight that occupied the space for a few years before Excalibur...
