hi all, i am in australia and i,m trying to find a relative from the year 1914. i have an address of 2238 48th avenue chicago, ill. i have looked on maps etc and cant find anything. does any one know a way i could try and find details on the then property.

First off, make sure the address is 48th ave vs. 48th street. If it is 48th avenue the street would be known today as Cicero Ave. Is the address north 48th or south 48th avenue?

1914 would have been after the renumbering of Chicago addresses, so the number unlikely would have changed to the present day.

2238 N Cicero is in the Belmont Craigin community, and the Craigin neighborhood. It is probably now part of a parking lot for a used car dealer (Global Motors Inc).

2238 S Cicero is not in the city of Chicago at all, but in the town of Cicero. In 1914 it was probably in Cicero as well.

Here's a collection of Chicago maps from 1900-1914. You can really zoom in and see stuff. Hope this helps.
