Apparently the house next door to Obama just sold for 1.4M. It was purchased for something like 35K in 1973. I calculate 10.2% annual appreciation. Not bad considering everyone said not to buy there at the time (and I don't think the Obama effect changed the final price by a significant amount -- maybe 10% max).

What folks fail to credit is that his next door neighbor has been living there since '73, a white man married to a black woman. Obama's alderman is also a black woman married to a white man. And the president lives directly across the street from a synagogue.
