Hey everyone, this will be my 4th time visiting Chicago on business and I was just wondering what area of the downtown is a good safe area for some 22 year old guys to go out to a College style bar? Preferably a place that has some college girls there as well or even a pub that has a good feel to it. We are in town on business we work for MLB and we are doing some work for the Cubs and White Sox and would appreciate any information, thanks.

I suggest you hit up Wrigleyville instead of downtown. That area has a lot of crazy bars that have an early 20's crowd. You can just take the Red Line train to the Addison stop and you will be surrounded by a ton of bars (mostly on Clark St). Most are various sports bars and pubs, but there are some nightclub type places also. The cab ride back late night when you're good & loaded should not be more than $20. If there is a game that day it will be really crazy, but the bar scene will be an older crowd than a Fri/Sat night.

Lincoln Park is another area that attracts a younger nightlife crowd, particularly Lincoln Avenue between Wrightwood and Webster. You would also take the Red Line to get there, getting off at the Fullerton stop and heading east a couple of blocks. DePaul U. is in Lincoln Park, so you will probably find some college girls there.

I second the suggestion for Wrigelyville / Lakeview. Downtown has significantly fewer folks that are in the "right out of college" age and unless you are into the cougar / manther scene the short trip on the Red Line to Addison and vicinity will put you in much better territory.

LP is a quieter, more expensive and a bit less raucous than Wrigleyville for the most part -- resturants that serve wine vs bars that serve beer.

Chicago makes no special provisions for college crowd at DePaul, the way some true college towns do, so even stuff that tends to be under 21 for music is thin on bars --they make more money from booze than soda...

There might be some individual bars downtown with what you're looking for, but generally that scene is found on the north side and a few bits by UIC on the near west side.

are you in a condo or rental? i can't think of many hotels near soldier field. anyhow, the red line goes right by soldier field so it couldn't be easier for you.

The red line runs twenty-four hours a day. I'm not sure when last call is, but most bars close by 2am-3am with some staying open as late as 4am
