Hi, all. Lurker-turned-poster with a question for anyone who might be willing to give an answer...that familiar with the area. My family isn't that keen on this moving decision, but my mother said she was willing to help me move on the stipulation that I find a decently safe place to live.

SAIC - School of the Art Institute of Chicago
It is important to not confuse the housing options that you would have there with those that might offered by the for profit company that runs these places that have locations around the country including Tampa and Chicago:
Art, Fashion Design, Culinary Arts Schools - The Art Institutes I would discourage any one from spending any money with them...
Their location is downtown / River North and has very good access to the public transportation.
350 N. Orleans Street, Chicago, IL 60654-1593 You would regret living in Hyde Park and would do much better looking for a place near DePaul's Lincoln Park campus or anyplace else in the general vicinity including all the popular youth oriented north side areas.

Pilsen. I think about a third of the kids who go to the various art schools downtown live in Pilsen.
