HI I am considering accepting an internship position at a local unversity in Chicago. I will not earn very much and will be supporting two teen age boys.
Can you tell me...
1. is it possible to stay in the city and have a safe neighborhood/good school for my boys (both high school) reasonable rent?
2. What neigborhoods would be safe and still reasonable?
3. if not in the city what suburbs would be close enough from UIC and be safe, and reasonable adn good schools?

Thanks for any help.

Look into the Mont Clare area. As neighborhoods go, you can't do much better than there. I'm from Mont Clare originally.
