Hi guys. Can any of you tell me how safe the area around 6323 N. Avondale is? I live in the loop and will possibly be traveling there for a new job. I would either have to take the blue line to Harlem, then a bus, or the metra to Norwood and walk 10-12 minutes on Avondale. I would have regular business hours. Is this an area I should be worried about?
Thanks for the help!

About as safe as can be in Chicago.
Do a Citizen ICAM on it...only seven reported crimes in the last two weeks in a half mile radius.

The biggest thing you have to worry about is crossing Harlem Ave at Palatine. There are no stop signs and no street light there.

One last thing. Would you suggest taking the blue line or the metra from the loop?

It depends where you are going in the loop.

I live in Lakeshore East. So I would either have to walk to the blue line and then take a bus to get there, or take a bus to the Ogilive, take the metra, then walk the rest of the way. At least this is what google maps tole me.

I think the bus to Ogilvie and walking from the Norwood Park stop would probably be quicker. The walk from the Metra stop to that address is just over 1 block.

That neighborhood is basically suburbia that just happens to be within the city limits. It would be like walking through Naperville but with more ranch houses.
