One of the key reasons the 'body of Christ' must join together is so believers can properly function as intended -- as the 'body of Christ' ... since Spiritual gifts are spread-out among believers 'as God wills.'
The original intent of meeting together was to eat in fellowship after a time of fasting. Naturally, this developed into a sharing of experience, encouragement, teaching, worshiping and other facets of a community of believers. From that, the developing clergy developed a litany and so we have the same sort of gathering just with different litanies. A good old-fashioned potluck would fulfil the original purpose better.
We are Not to isolate oneself according to Proverbs 18 v 1.
Hebrews [ 10 vs 20- 26 ] mentions the 'house of God' [the place set aside for worship]. Verse 25 mentions Not to forsake the assembling together. That would be for the purpose to be the one who will start to love and fine ' spiritual ' works[ verse 24 ]. So, for Christians the meeting together is survival classes as we see the 'day' approaching. The 'millennial-long day' approaching when Jesus will usher in global Peace on Earth among men of goodwill.
