Why would anyone be drawn to a person who is constantly dripping with animosity?
Did you ever read that scripture that says to seek peace and ensue it and to try with all you have to be at peace with ALL men. The problem you have is that you obviously believe that our war IS against other human beings. Nothing could be further from the truth. You are spiritually dead.

Ask yourself this ... what if a president didn't honor Martin Luther King Day, would he be applauded by the same crowd here?
The name of the Judge who declared it unconstitutional was Crabb.

Last month, a U.S. District Judge in Wisconsin ruled that the government-sanctioned event, established by Congress and marked with a proclamation from the president, is unconstitutional.

Crabb's decision resulted from a lawsuit filed by a group of atheists and agnostics called the Freedom From Religion Foundation, who complained that the government did not have the right to tell them to pray.

And I will add that I was disappointed when my colleagues on the left mocked President Obama for suggesting people pray about the Gulf of Mexico disaster. Obama IS a Christian. He may not be the 'flavor' of Christian that everyone wants him to be, but wow - what ever happened to freedom of religion? There is fierce animosity on both the left and the right, unfortunately.

Bluntly that is the most stupid statement I've seen here today. Your ignorance of what Atheists believe is simply staggering.

Atheism is freedom, and we don't hold weekly meeting being told who we must hate.
  • Atheists did not bring slaves to this country and treat them like animals, christians did.
  • Atheists don't view the female as a inferior and that they must be subservient to the male, christians do that.
  • Atheists don't view gays with hatred and strive to enact this hatred into laws of this nation, christians do that.
  • Atheists don't pass laws based purely on the hokus pokus of their belief system in some deity, christians do that.
  • Atheists don't start wars because they feel their deity has been insulted, christians do that.
  • Atheists have never drowned their children in the bathtub because god told them to, christians do that.
  • Atheists have never gone to the polls to vote their hatred into law discriminating against others, (Prop 8, California 2008), christians do that.
  • Atheists don't rewrite history books because a prominent figure in US history was Atheist. (Texas, 2010), christians do that.
  • Atheists didn't burn people believed (incorrectly) to be witches at the stake, christians do that.

Mockery is what that is. Although, I'd say it's closer to blasphemy.
Here, here! Well said. Americans have really been severely dumbed down. It's sad and pathetic and irritating. Sheesh!

I understand what your point is...but still doesn't justify.

A christian (or claims to be a christian) politician today should understand that other political leaders (Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego) risked taking the heat for refusing to bow to a false god.

The poltical landscape is nothing but a reflection of it's people.
As Jesus said: "He who is not with me is against me" Luke 11:23

What false God? Am I missing something here?

Last time I checked, there is not and never has been any religious test to be President of this country.

Choosing not to attend a religious ritual is irrelevant to his status or qualifications as POTUS.

You sure can! Typically, the quality of life of all that country's citizens increases, personal and religious freedoms flourish, children excel in academics...

Indeed, mainly due to Christian meddling in government, media and academics (particularly in history and science).
