Luke 14: 15And when one of them that sat at meat with him heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God. 16Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many: 17And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready. 18And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused. 19And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused. 20And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come. 21So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind. 22And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room. 23And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. 24For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.

Could a believer say this today when Jesus calls?

Hebrews 12:25See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven: 26Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.

Hebrews 10:37For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. 38Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. 39But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

Why instruct believers to not refuse Him that speak from Heaven unless some of the believers will?

Can we apply His warning today in what believers would say or not?

Would a believer say this?

Luke 14:20And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.

Does this imply a bondage as to why he could not come?

Does not these others suggests a commitment to what they own or to work below?

Luke 14:18And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused. 19And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused.

Now consider these verses below as the OP culminates and hinges on it.

Luke 21: 34And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. 35For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

Should believers speak of their commitments or of their promises in doing things, even for God?

"Oh wait, Lord. Just one more thing before I go..." is a response of one drawing back.

James 4:13Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: 14Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. 15For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. 16But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil. 17Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

Galatians 5:1Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

Seems there is a need in the latter days to pray that no believer has been snared by the cares of this life by asking Jesus to set us free from all yokes of bondages and just lean on Him to do what is good at the moment so that we shall be always free and ready to heed when He does call from above. If He that calls does so when you are in a middle of a good thing, trust Him that you shall be taken when the time comes.

Matthew 24: 40Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 41Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 42Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

Luke 17: 34I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. 35Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 36Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 37And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.

The call is a watch for readiness. Are you ready to go right now? and if not, time to go to Jesus in prayer to escape that snare and be free to go.

***Now don't take this as a reason to get a divorce. There are no marriage vows written in the Bible because God made the two, one, as it is the covenant of marriage that God has made so the wedding vows are unnecessary for God has made you one. And yet you may want to consider being released from those wedding vows and just recognize that God has made the two of you one and be free to leave when He calls.

So ask Jesus to set you free from those man-made promises and rest in His covenant of marriage so that you may be free to leave when He calls.
