How important is this topic in our relationship with God?

John 5:41I receive not honour from men. 42But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you. 43I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive. 44How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?

His word says that the love of God does not dwell in those that seek honour and glory of men over the honour and glory that is God's alone.

What about oneself? Can one seek to honour himself by testimony?

John 5:31If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.

John 7: 18He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.

Proverbs 25:27It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory.

So to be a witness of the Son, we cannot bear witness of ourselves nor of men in such a way that it seeks their honour and their glory in relations to the things that be of God's.

1 Corinthians 3: 5Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man? 6I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. 7So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.... 21Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are your's; 22Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are your's; 23And ye are Christ's; and Christ is God's.

1 Corinthians 1: 29That no flesh should glory in his presence. 30But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: 31That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

If no flesh shall glory in His presence, then the verses regarding the glory that men are given on the earth cannot be applied to nor shared in the glory that can only be God's that is in Heaven.

And if anyone wishes to be faithful witness of the Son down here in seeking His glory, then honour Him by decreasing in respect to yourself and others, if you expect His glory to increase.

The shadow of Jesus Christ that Moses and Aaron the First High Priest of the Wilderness Temple in Leviticus 24:5-9 gives an example of the glory of God that we are called to resist taking from God as a persecution from Heaven .....``And you shall take fine flour and bake twelve cakes there of two tenth deals shall be in one cake .... the bread for a momorial even an offering made by fire unto the Lord. every Sabbath he shall set it in order before the Lord continually being taken from the children of Isreal by an everlasting covenant...... and it shall be Aarons and his sons and they shall eat it in the holy place for it is most holy unto him of the offerings of the Lord made by fire by a perpetual statue``...... see Aaron had to make these unleavened twelve cakes which represents the unproud bread or unleavened not puff up of bread of life for a covenant to the twelve tribes of Israel , and Aaron eat the cakes and could not enjoy the bread or it would take the Glory to God away from him and make more bread every Sabbath to the Lord had to resist taking Glory or resist persecuted in the heart
