Absolute sensationalism. Having worked on a Y2K compliance project for a financial concern, the bug never had a chance, lol.
Wasn't that the mother of all failed disasters?
My dad stocked up for months with fuel, food, ammo and guns.
The next day he had a far away stare as he sat silently in his easy chair.
He finally spoke:
"You know - I'm glad no one got hurt. But I wish that at least something would have happened, I mean, just a glitch in the lights or something" (referring to how all the new years celebrations he watched from around the globe came off without a hitch).
I bought into the Y2K thing, but not to the point of stockpiling food or supplies. I gave my family members a survival backpack, which I think is good to have anyway. I still have mine and I rotate out the medications, lighters and food items every so often just for the heck of it.
I'm sorry your wife got distressed by this e-mail FB....it would distress me too and then I would probably get perturbed. It's all the same stuff, and like you said isn't it October already? Where's that huge earthquake? I had seen some prophecies on youtube about a September earthquake too but if you look hard enough there's some nut out there prophesying for every day of the week. sheesh.
you know,I think a lot of older ppl are just very naive and very vulnerable to things like that.back in their day, well, there were, generally speaking,a lot fewer liars.

I helped a friend clean out his MIL's apartment when she moved into assisted living, (one of the perils of owning a truck ). There were boxes of VCR's of the bible, bible stories, all religious, etc. etc., probably 40 - 50 in all, all still in the shrink wrap.

sounds like she was a hoarder of such things.(didn't realize owning a truck had perils I'll beware) lol.
Well, while the fear mongerers and "the sky is falling" believers are busy buying supplies in bulk and flashlight batteries, I'll be living my life happily and peacefully, smiling and loving my friends and family.
Even if I bought into all that "end of days" fear mongering, I'd still want to spend my "last days" laughing and loving and probably on the beach somewhere in Tahiti. So the Chicken Little followers can live in fear all they want. Won't effect me! I live for today.

LOL, I suppose after all that planning you would suffer a bit of a let down. I think all of us, though, want to see something horrific. When the tornado sirens go off here in Oklahoma we go outside to see it.
For the ETers, how is the Mayan calendar ending in the year 2012 viewed? Do they see this as supportive evidence, irrelevant, blasphemy . . . ? Does anyone know? Would anyone who believes in ET like to leave their comments? I've never heard both concepts mentioned in the same breath, but have been wondering for some time if "The Rapture" is supposed to coincide with whatever the Mayans foresaw in ending their calendar when they did.
I'm pretty fascinated by the whole 2012 thing, but I don't really believe it marks the end of our world (or life on earth, or human life). I always hope that it signifies the beginning of a new (better) time. I keep hoping it's the beginning of an expansion in human consciousness, where we are unable to blot out the horrors we know exist all around us, and instead do something -- to help people, finally. Maybe where we abandon the whole "free market" idea and simply say, we have so much grain we're throwing it into the sea as standard operating procedure -- let's take every piece of that grain and provide it continually to every hungry family in the U.S., Africa, China, Bangladesh . . . etc. And oh, you don't have a health insurance plan, Africans? Well we just woke up and realized you oughtn't need one -- you're human beings and your life has value. We'll give you all the medicinal supplies you require, free of charge -- because your life has greater value than the sum it will cost us to supply these things to you.
Anyone? Rapture and chaos? Or peace and healing? What do you think?
I don't know,I think the Mayans did not create a perpetual calendar anyway,so it had to end somewhere.there are some good vids on youtube saying it has something to do w the sun cycles,so that makes sense to me as to why they chose 2012.nbd.
