Read that article, you are talking about the flavonoid phenolics which helps raise HDL, it is in red grape juice also.

Alcohol helps fight plaque development.

So does Plavix. While alcohol may have some benefits, it clearly also has a whole lot of drawbacks. What I'm saying is that drinking alcohol "because it's good for you" is really not a good reason. If you want to drink it because it makes you feel good or because you like the taste, go right ahead. Just don't pretend you're doing it because it's "healthy." There are many ways to get the benefits of wine without the the drawbacks.

Uh, guys? When June finds herself deleting an entire page and a half of off topic posts, that means only one thing: Please keep it ON TOPIC or the thread gets closed, with infractions to follow!

Okay?

"Yes June."

~Thanks!

I know for a fact that some of these southern Baptists drink so is it better to be open about it or pretend that you abhor it and do it in secrecy? The hypocrisy is overwhelming. Some will say it's the sin of getting drunk and not the act of drinking itself. That's what I say....but what if I'm drunk right now? As long as I behave myself is that ok?
I think it's a sin in that alcohol can cause so many problems. You can ruin your liver, run somebody over, kill someone in a drunken rage, choke on your own vomit, fall down and knock yourself out, get arrested, or any number of things can happen. I think if you don't abuse it, as any other naturally occurring drug, then, it's not going to ruin your life but for the most part is is bad for you. There's no real nutritional value. It's sort of like junkfood: if you stuff yourself with cheeseburgers and french fries everyday, you're going to ruin your health.

What we take into our bodies can either benefit or harm them. God created our bodies and expects us to take good care of them. Taking in harmful things is not caring for our bodies the way he wants us to.
