I saw the billboard from a certain Christian organization that says the "Bible" garauntees that May 21, 2011 is the day... and right under it is the web address... of course. Ok... "the Bible garauntees it hunh"? Sure. It's statements like that that will turn even more people away from God if nothing happens. Of course nothing will happen on that date, in my opinion.
Yep, every failed 'rapture' prediction is another nail in the coffin of organized religion. More and more people laugh at those who make such predictions and they [begin to] believe the entire religion is a joke. I would almost bet that more people are turned toward atheism by these failed predictions than by any other single external cause.
Jesus comes as a thief in the night . I see nothing wrong with speculation ,math calculations or date analysis it's just that in the hands of clueless network people they identify these people as evangelicals and laugh at them and us . They then correlate "rapture" with the end of the world having no idea about Tribulation or the 1000 year reign of Jesus yet to start. It's just nutty.
