Luke 13:24

Why do we believe this is about believing in Jesus ?. What is Jesus talking about here ?.

Make every effort to enter into Jesus ? . Sounds like a works based teaching to me, like many other religions.

Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body Hebrews 10:19:20.

This sounds more like it to me, entering by confidence, rather than effort.

It's not.

Jesus is encouraging to "make every effort" to "hear" his word. Because there will come a time when God shuts the door to the opportunity Luke 13:25 ....

after that it will be too late. Luke 13:25-28

It's not ? it's used by a few on here who say it is.

How does the natural minded spiritual dead man make an effort to hear his word ?.

I think you will find he was talking to Jews and the door to the Old Covenant was closing.

Fullfillment of scripture was at the door for our Jewish brethren

What then? Israel failed to obtain what it was seeking. The elect obtained it, but the rest were hardened,as it is written,
“God gave them a spirit of stupor,
eyes that would not see
and ears that would not hear,
down to this very day.”
And David says,Let their table become a snare and a trap,
a stumbling block and a retribution for them;
let their eyes be darkened so that they cannot see,
and bend their backs forever.” Romans 11:7-10

So you believe we have to make an effort to gain an entry into heaven ? . You are stuck in the old testament mate. I forget christians also believe it means heaven too. There is only one place a believer desires to be found in, and that is in Christ himself ...."And be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law(effort to enter into the things of God)Phil 3:9

I believe you hit it on the nose there.

Jesus was talking about the coming judgment against Israel, and the disciples were asking who would be saved.

In Romans it is made clear that Israel was blinded to the truth of Christ so that they would reject him and salvation from sin and death could go out to the whole world.

The wrath that Christ was warning of, the destruction that is prophesied of in the gospels, was for the most part all about Israel, and the then coming destruction of the temple.

As were the prophecies of wrath given by John the baptist.

Luke 21:23
How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! There will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people.

Indeed, He is encouraging you to understand as many will say to him....

Did we not believe in you, Jesus?
Did we not cast out demons in your name, Jesus?
Did we not perform miracles in your name, Jesus?

But he will say....

DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.
DEPART FROM ME, ALL YOU WHO COMMIT INIQUITY.
DEPART FROM ME, ALL YOU EVILDOERS.

Truly, they will reap what has been sown in his name – as if by divine inspiration?

Sounds more like it? You rather Pauls teaching on how to enter Heaven than the teachings of God himself? Why does this not surprise me?

And are you seriously asking what Christ is talking about entering?

No questioning Fundamental christianity's interpretation of it, and it's coming up trumps so far. I know very well what Jesus was saying to the jew, there's a new covenant dawning, and while the door of the old covenant age is closing make every effort to enter in , because you will never see me again under the new covenant, unless you say blessed his he who comes in the name of the Lord.
