All the folks in this thread are extremely insightful and deserving of standing up for their deverse
beliefs and their effeort to deal with persecution. As an evangelical I don't hold any title or some
higher conciousness, that will sweep you away on a path of wisdom and enlightenment. I'am a sin-
ner seeking truth in scripture, which I believe is Gods word transcripted by inspired scholars. I
believe Jesus Christ came to save us from our sins past, present and future. We are saved by our
belief in Him and finally I believe God has set asside a place of joy unspeakable albeit heaven.
Religion is mostly manufactured by man but those that believe in the word and Jesus Christ are
probably justified in His eyes inspite of the "fillers or doctrines" having little to do with Jesus who
had little to do with religion. Many religions are consumed by distractions related to works, self im-
provement,liberlized morality ,mysticism,paganism,idolatry,mother nature,mediators ,symbolic
religiosity, christian titles without christianity, agnostic clingings and stuff from a land far far away.
Scripture teaches the "man" (mankind or man and women) will disappoint so we need to "get over
it" when we run into hypocrits, dippy cheeky monkies who lay some spiritual hurt on you or claim
to be christian . They are often as clueless about faith in God or without any fellowship ,study and
Spirit filled guidance. Many attempt to articulate their own perverted faith not to mention slice and dicing yours. Your going to run into morons and we need to make sure WE don't become morons or
dummies in Christ . He wrote scripture so that children and mentally challenged could understand
it and it's designed to slap around the philosophers and "deep thinkers" before they get out of bon-
dage from their crap and self perpetuating focus. In fairness many are nice people just seeking a
real relationship with a tangible loving God.

As you guys know, I bum around this forum quite often and I have to admit, I am surprised a great deal by the wide ranging and sometimes contradictory positions amongst Christians. I say surprising not because of the usual Catholics Vs Protestants differences, but rather, about god, Jesus and the bible.
I guess a lot of my surprise comes from the fact that when I was a Christian, I was part of the fundamentalist crowd, one of those who often took the bible at face value. I now realize that not all Christians do that; some even outrightly rejecting an entire canon as nothing to take too serious or others who force back NT concepts/modern concepts into the OT to make it more palatable.
When I hear scholars say that early Christianity was one of many "Christianities" (with all the different opinions at the time), I see what they meant because nothing has changed after 2,000 years and with the flood of UR at ETers threads, folks are super passionate about their positions.
{shrug}Different people, different views. We'd don't have to be cookie cutter carbon copies of each other. Nothing wrong with it. What's wrong is insisting that your view is the only plausible view out there.

well-said we can certainly all isten to each other without the need to debate or agree on all points.

indeed.and religion is also consumed by politics, too much of the time.It is not going to matter in heaven, who is rebublican, democrat,or whatever. There are many who think it will, but it won't.(or that dems won't even make it to their heaven-which they think is a republican heaven only).but God doesn't care about that-He looks at the heart, and all these things that some think are sooo important right now, aren't going to make a bit of difference in the afterlife.
Jesus refused to answer political q's for a reason..

There are people who describe themselves as Christians, and those who are truly born of the Spirit. There seems to be more of the former than the latter here.
And when people describe themselves as Christians, you will get different appearances of "Christianity".
