America is not even America anymore right now. But if we keep predicting the end soon, we will be right at some point.

America is a continent; the US is a country.

I always wonder why christians think they own marriage.
Don't you know that marriage and unions of this sort predate all religions by thousands of years and that same-sex unions existed all over the planet before christianity took over the world?

It had more to do with surviving.

Why not more focus on the sin of breaking the first commandment, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart" or "honoring thy mother and father".

But no, we as a society are so fixated on the sins of sexual immorality (and they are sins, don't get me wrong) that we don't spend enough time trying to cleanse our hearts and minds from all the other sinning we're doing.

I don't believe God punishes nations anymore. That's OT and with Jesus, we all have a personal relationship with God for which we will be judged or rewarded. That said, when the majority of a country is not Christian and not trying to follow God's path....bad things are going to happen. Greed takes over our hearts & makes individuals, states, corporations, etc make poor financial decisions instead of being good stewards of our riches. And on and on.

I think making gay marriage legal is more a sign of our morally depraved times & leaders than anything else. And I think it does make God sad.
Good comments. As a Born Again believer, I have seen how the church hammers homosexuality. Yes it's a sin, but the church doesn't like to discuss other sexual sins such as adultry and porography- because so many members engage in it. Also, what about obesity and glutony- when is the last time anybody heard a sermon preached about this particular sin?!

They want them to STOP practicing homosexuality before being saved and before being welcomed into the body of the local church.
I do not believe that is accurate, or at least I never heard it before that they can't be saved, or that they would have to stop practicing it before being saved. Anyone, even a murderer, can be saved. All sinners are welcome to churches. As a matter of fact the 'altar calls' wouldn't even make any sense if everyone inside was assumed already saved.

Actually pornography is a hot topic these days in church, and is mentioned far more often than any other sexual sin. It is brought up for the very reason, that it is a common sin even among church members, especially younger males

Interesting that you mention the breaking the first commandment when it so happens that God links just that with the topic being discussed:
Colossians 3:5
"Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry."

idolatry = the breaking of the first commandment
sexual immorality = includes LGBT
notice how God through Paul puts this into the past tense ... as in stopped engaging in:
1 Corinthians 6:9-11
Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God?

Do not be deceived:
Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor
thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of
God.

And that is what some of you were.

But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Well---hows this for a coincidence with a rainbow.

The day my mother was taken to the hospice facility and the next day that she died, were rainy, yucky, overcast days.

With in a couple of minutes or even less when she passed away, the skies cleared and a vibrant rainbow occurred. I truly believe that that was a sign saying, "hey-- moms here now!"

I take that to be a sign in both cases, God was stopping by to let us know some things and he was pleased.

So are both a coincidence? I'm going to gather that you would also call this a coincidence, since this very religious quite lady who accepted her gay son and his partner could not possibly be welcomed into heaven by a rainbow.

Damn, I am happy that I believe our god is not the vengeful, demanding one that you apparently worship as the venom that you spew can be quite toxic.

Maybe it was a sign from God or not. Our relationship with God is very personal so He interacts with us in unique ways. I don't get your logic that my beliefs means your mother couldn't be welcomed into heaven. We are born alone and we die alone. She carries no blame for your own actions.

But if I am to believe that God sent a rainbow to show his approval and blessing of same sex marriages then we might as well throw away the Bible. We can't have faith in the word of God when He changes course and decides that He now approves of same sex relations.

I don't serve a vengeful demanding God. I serve a patient God who tolerates sin as long as possible until He finally must intervene and destroy it before we destroy all of his creation. That is certainly possible in the modern era with every major nation getting their hands on nuclear warheads.

Gays getting married won't destroy the world. Nuclear warheads might, but gay marriage probably won't. Unless they get married inside a missile silo and accidentally push the red button. Or something like that.

Perhaps God had a change of heart. SAAN quoted Genesis with regard to the rainbow. God used the rainbow as a message to man.

Coinkidink or not. The photographs of the rainbow over Dublin was beautiful.
