Beloved, we must continue in obedience if we want to retain our salvation. You can't belong to Jesus any other way.

Hebrews 5
[8] Though he [Jesus] were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
[9] And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

Hebrews 6:8 - But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.

Once you receive the free gift of salvation, you can use your free will to walk away at any time; and, if you die in that state of rebellion, you will be rejected on the last day. Therefore, brethren, let us not tempt the Lord by departing from His love, truth, holiness and righteousness. His ways are free from willful sin. As good soldiers, we must learn to endure hardness knowing that our end will be in His glory forever; this is done by bringing our minds under subjection to God's will, no matter how much the flesh yearns for disobedience.

Amen to our High Priest, Jesus, the Lamb of God!

I'd prefer not to "belong" to anyone.

A good message... amen !!
Those who really love and want to know and are seeking God, God will reveal this to them.
And He will give to them a changed heart, changed from loving their own ways and sin, too hating sin, a heart that detest their sin completely and walking dependent upon Him in their life.

This heart of obedience God gives to one is a heart that is wanting nothing but the will of the Father in their life, they hunger, thirst for Him and so desire to do all that they can to please Him.... !!
Trust and obey for there is no other way......
Therefore He seeks for this one who truly wants and desires to worship Him in truth and spirit.... and His grace will always produce it in that heart.... amen !!

To obey the word of "Christ" is to walk in Jesus' footsteps. From being born in a manger fit only for the lowest creature...to the cross showed humility and forgiveness in its truest form.

Peace!

scgraham, I'm always curious when people believe that, how they reconcile sins of omission in their lives. The Bible tells us to visit the widows and orphans. Do you believe that it's a sin if you don't?

God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.

How is it that you seek to dispute the scriptures? Did not the Pharisees, scribes and lawyers do the same? They thought they had eternal life, but the scriptures concluded otherwise, of which Jesus told them so.

Everyone belongs to either God or the devil. If they obey, then God is their Father; if not, then the devil is their father.
