That's not a personal attack my friend, that is a legitimate question because TS is not making any sense at all with his posts in this thread and other ones. Pay attention. It's legitimate because that would just add fuel to Mike555's claim of moral degeneracy and depravity. Word.

That is strange. I understand so what what it means. It means that we are all influenced by what is around us. We don't live in a vaccuum.

And I believe it means we don't respect God instead of staying close to God.

And we will love everyone into heaven on what we believe instead of what God requires.

That is what I got out of it.

No doubt, there are many who are so romanticize living in huts, living under socialistic, communist, King\emperor and Jihad rule. Such prime examples of what we could have been. So many angelic forms of goverment ........ gag me.

FYI ... I'm so guilt ridden to know that it's so wonderful that the majority of people in this world find it luxurious to have their own (properly working) bathroom like we have.... not like those other angelic countries that throw used toilet paper in the garbage can next to the toilet or have squating area's.

I would love for the guilt ridden of this country to pack up and go to their utopia civilization that started so angelically.

Well, you can probably thank a lot of deists, agnostics and closet atheists for our rise, due to the enlightenment. I would hardly say it had anything to do with Christianity. The Golden Rule, etc., helped, but you can read the biography of people like Isaac Newton and find out that the only reason we have what we have today is because people fought like mad against organized religion. I'm not saying to throw out the teachings of Christ (agape love) just because you bail on an organization. Not at all. I'm just saying we don't need an organization to show us how to love and treat others around the globe with compassion and mercy.

What we need is for more people to actually believe agape love (Christ) actuallly exists.

Liberty: The freedom to chose for ourselves, not to have others chose for us.

Pursuit of happiness: And, for some, happiness involves living with another of the same sex. Do they not have the Constitutional right to do so?

That is not only contrary to our Constitution and respect for individual rights, but contrary to the New Testament's respect for the free will of humans. While there is plenty of evil rampant on this planet today and Jesus tells us that it will be like the days of Noah at the end of the Age, our nation has a shameful history of bigotry, oppression, classism, and enslavement of human beings. Our national forefathers gave themselves over to and aided and abetted these evils, and we must repent of them in order to do justice and love mercy.

There might be a middle-ground here.

If the US has been "blessed" by God, we then ask ourselves "why" it has been blessed: lots of believers, lots of prayer, etc.
But we can't know for certain the "specific" reasons. For example, if God blesses America because of Christians, then which Christians? Protestants? Catholics? Jehovah's Witnesses? The mega-churches, or the poor churches of the inner cities?

And how does He bless us: with money and material goods? with political power? with spiritual insight? with a humble heart and a spirit of sacrifice?

And what about the "punishments?" Take the recent tornado outbreaks. There have been many in the US, and much of the world asks why it happens so often in the US, and not in other areas, where they occur less often?
What is this punishment for? Gays? Repubblicans? Greed? Injustice? No prayer in schools? Too many video games?

(I have my own thoughts on all this, but I just wanted to "stir the pot" a bit" )

Blessings,
brian

Freedom of Religion or from it, appears to be the question? Many do not know their own history, especially, those who had escaped religiosity and its control.
Unfortunately, it raised its ugly head, healing itself; and followed them in its external obligation of force. However, ultimately it will be crushed through the Spirit of Christ.

No! Homosexuals do not have any Constitutional right to practice homosexuality.

See the following link which speaks to the matter.
Apologetics Press - The Founders on Homosexuality

Excerpt:
Homosexuality was treated as a criminal offense in all of the original 13 colonies and eventually every one of the 50 states (see Robinson, 2003; "Sodomy Laws...,"). Severe penalties were invoked for those who engaged in homosexuality.
Apologetics Press - The Founders on Homosexuality

Refer also to post #92.

The founders of our country understood that homosexuality is a crime against nature and that it is destructive to society.

Man has freedom, but not unlimited freedom. Because man has a sin nature, authority is necessary within a system of law in order to check the sinful trends of mankind. One of the symptoms of a sick society is the acceptence of homosexuality. Now today, that is not considered by many to be politically correct thinking, but it is as ever, a matter of truth.

he US Supreme Court said otherwise in Lawrence v TEXAS, and according to the latest Gallup polls released this week, the overwhelming majority of Americans agree.

The founders of our country understood that homosexuality is a crime against nature and that it is destructive to society.

Mike, you have the right to express kooky, authoritarian ideas, but as a Christian, I am disturbed that you are being such a bad witness to what it means to be a Christian.
