I thought the elect elected themselves as per your previous post?
God's plan for redemption has made the elect. His plan which is written makes those who follow his path are the elected ones . First the plan God has put in place for salvation is what makes one become the elect.
Such as becoming elected to public office. Those who follow the plan to get into office, when they acchieve the publics approval they become elected .
First the plan to get elected then following the plan and then Christ separates his sheep who hear his voice.
We who follow God's plan for salvation are then elect . God has put his plan first. It is with the path of salvation and making Jesus Christ our lord and savior makes us elected by God.
For those of you who subscribe to the idea that God elects some to heaven while the rest are consigned to a different fate, how do you know for sure that you, yourselves are part of the elect?
We can all be the elect at some point. We each travel a different road and the pace we choose to go is determinined by our own self and how fast we want to get there. I like the scenic route personally. I'm not into all that piousness that the churches want you to be. I stumble and fall and I get right back up. I think God would want us to learn each of those lessons that take us down a different road. I don't think He wants us to take the straight and narrow road that has no lessons. Jesus said to BECOME perfect. He didn't say to BE perfect because I seiously don't think it's possible to jsut be perfec twhile still having inclinations to sin.
Jesus is the elect ONE. He was the one who was forordained.
If you are in Christ, then you, too, are elect.
How do you get into Christ? Galatians 3:27 "27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
How do you know if you are one of the elect? Hebrews 5:9 " 9 and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him"
Revelation 22:17 "17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life."
THE ONE WHO WISHES! It is a choice each of us has to make. God is sovereign, however, he gave us the free will to choose our path. Those who teach differently are false teachers.
For the fundies and most of the "believe IN" crowd . . . they appoint themselves by what they "elect" to "intellectually" accept about Jesus and God. For the "believe ON" crowd . . . their inner motivations and acceptance of the Holy Spirit's guidance show their "election" in their "fruits."

The elect simply accept Jesus Christ as their lord and savior and walk in the Holy Spirit becoming a new creation in Christ. To accept his grace for Jesus paid the price on the cross when he took our sins onto himself so we can have everlasting life in him.
It was God's shed blood for us. We were dead in our sins but Jesus took the shackles of sin in our lives and made us free to live in his righteousness and walk with him . His shed blood was the price paid in full for all who believe in him and have faith in his sacrifice on the cross.
What if I said that the elect is the body of Christ, the Church?
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light; 1 Peter 2:9
God calls all of us. There is not one who God will not call. No one comes to Christ except the father draw him.
Whosoever believeth in me shall have ever lasting life. Anyone can be a whosoever.
We are the deciding factor in our fate. If we become a believer our faith in Jesus Christ makes us his children .
They are the elect when they receive Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.
There is no question about that, Taratova. BUT . . . there is a big question about what that means and HOW we do that. The ONLY way to know what Spirit is guiding us is by our "fruits." If we follow Christ's Holy Spirit . . . we "love God and each other" using 1Cor 13 as the standard "fruit detector."
For those of you who subscribe to the idea that God elects some to heaven while the rest are consigned to a different fate, how do you know for sure that you, yourselves are part of the elect?
Calvanism is from God's perspective, and Arminianism is from man's perspective. "Predestination" talk tends to puff up our pride which God hates. One's best bet is to humble oneself, do exactly what Jesus of the King James Bible says, and get on our face praying that we are given the strength to overcome to the end so we are deemed worthy to enter his kingdom.
The message is repent (turn away from sin and towards righteousness defined in the KJV bible), deny self (do God's will not our own), and crucify the flesh (renouce sin and embrace God's spirit.) It's not an easy message to swallow, but it is the message.

Isaiah disagrees with you. I will stop there, but there are many more Biblical refs that do as well. Can you provide one to substantiate this claim?
