Yes, he did. The Keys were given to Peter from Jesus. Peter was the Bishop of Rome. All the early church Fathers agreed that the preeminent authority came from Peter and Rome. Was Rome the site of the first building or official state church? No, but the church is where it's leader is and Peter ended up in Rome. The Armenian Church was one of the Apostolic Sees, but they decided to go AWOL about a thousand years later. Besides, I don't think I read anywhere that the Armenian Church founding Apostles Bartholomew and Thaddeus received the Keys of the Kingdom of heaven from Jesus. This is not a matter of chronology, but rather authority.


Jesus -> Authority -> Peter -> Rome -> Catholic Church
