Well you got HALF of the memo. the FIRST part was "Teshuvah" to repent and turn BACK to YHVH and away from the sin, the 2nd half was to "Walk in HIS commanments" as HE walked. Oh well, I guess half is better than none
Isn't that what repenting means? Turn from sin to follow His commandments...?

No . . . it means to change your thoughts and feelings about the sin to those of agape love and remorse for your unloving disregard of the consequences of your sin for the others involved. If you still feel the same way about the sin as you did when you engaged in it . . . you have not repented and your obedience will be irrelevant. We are not pets performing in obedience trials . . . we are maturing children trying to become loving Spirits like our Christ and our Father.
But while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went away.
But when the wheat sprouted and bore grain, then the tares became evident also.
The slaves of the landowner came and said to him, 'Sir, did you not sow, good seed in your field?'
'How then does it have tares?' And he said to them, ‘An enemy has done this!’
The slaves said to him, ‘Do you want us, then, to go and gather them up?’
But he said, ‘No, for while you are gathering up the tares, you may uproot the wheat with them.
Allow both to grow together until the harvest; and in the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers:
"First gather up the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them up; but gather the wheat into my barn."'

Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day (star) shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire ... If any man's work shall be burned [katakaio; to burn down to the ground, to consume wholly,
burn up utterly – from the intensity of the light], he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved, yet so as through fire. (1 Corinthians 3:13-15, see also, Revelation 20:13-15)
Now, what are these tares that dwell within the souls of men? And, how did they get there? (Think about that which is adversarial to the Spirit of truth and love.)
“An immense falling away has already occurred; pulling the souls of men into the abyss of darkness.”

Really in the strictest sense it means to change your mind. If you change your mind about sin, then you don't love it anymore but aim to forsake it. Of course, this means preferring the way of love, since God's commandments are summarized by love.
Yeah Steph, I guess you forgot, xtianity is all about just love love love like in the 60's, nothing to DO just LOVE LOVE LOVE. NOT..........if you aren't walking in HIS commandments you are not HIS. Pretty simple, but I"m afraid they fell off one of their pews hit their heads and got amnesia and forgot about the REAL scripture spiritualizing everything as they do and NOT getting it.........must be nice to just live in a delusional la la land not getting that Obedience leads to blessings and disobedience leads to curses. Guess they never quite made the connection. Comes from new testamentitis. NOT knowing the very scriptures the Messiah and HIS Talmadim (apostles) taught from. There was no NT back then, but they missed the memo ;-)
You couldn't be further from the truth. You will NEVER prove that ANY commandment was done away with. IT is classic christian teaching to teach what you have stated. All you will do is cut and paste a snip of scripture that seems to support your point of view. Nothing new here. So I'll post one Messiah stated and see if you like IT.
Heb 10:28 Anyone who has disregarded the Torah of Mosheh dies without compassion on the witness of two or three witnesses
And I"M the first witness

This kind of ignorant dismissal of the Spirit of the law as reflected in Christ's reformulating it into "Love God and each other" . . . is indicative of a superficial understanding of God's true nature as revealed by Jesus Christ. The "free love" of the 60's was based on lust not agape love . . . but apparently you do not know the difference. We are NOT pets in obedience trials . . . we are children maturing into loving Spirits like Christ and our Father.
Before a child can truly learn how to love and function they have to know that they are loved and they have to be secure in that love. Then once they are secure in that love then you can grow in grace. Once the child is older and they mature they then learn how to use their force (or spirt or Christ potential) for good or evil. This life is a maturation process for humans. Humanity is at the turning point of maturing from a fear and punishment mentality to one based on a Father child relationship. Once that is established then humanity will move into the age where the Kingdom of God will flourish here. Life isnt' about sin as much as it is an evolution of maturing into the people we were created to be.
