The relationship btwn Jonathan and David in the Old Testament comes to mind when I think of this topic. Do you see the benefits it offers?
Just to clarify...you are speaking of a platonic relationship between 2 str8 Christians?

Hmmm...I'm of the opinion that this may open doors for Satan to disrupt and destroy the relationship...I dunno...

Default How we live our life.....

Today's society has permitted this question to even be considered. This is neither good or bad as a "single" component of living a godly life, but who of us can claim that life is not lived in context? or that how we live, isn't a witness to our belief system? It is foolish to think living in a "civil union" sends no message. I do agree that as a single component, with all the 'boundries" or "conditions" placed on the "civility" of the union, it would seem benign ... but again, who lives that way? If we continue to add "conditional circumstances" to the equation, we are in fact creating the answer.
Ok..... seems like 2 "brothers" or "sisters" of the same family could live together, and if your sharing a apartment as students, or Marines in a common barrack... these sort of things are ok... but the circumstance we place ourselves in suggests, more than just a single moment in time. We must always look at the whole picture, read the whole story. The ACLU uses these types of arguments, because it uses one inert experience for everything, and it just doesn't hold water..... in my book.

Civil unions are nonintrusive ways of making same sex relationships seem acceptable. I did not JUST fall off the back of a Turnip truck. I believe in drawing lines in the sand, and this crosses the line "for me". It is a back door opportunity for secular thinking and realitivism to enter. The snares are there... the traps are set. If you want to "catch" something... make it seem safe, so......would you use a lure? and present no danger? and is appealing? of course you would... and the "hook" would be hidden. We must always look beyond the intellect or the logic, but rather look at the reason, see the circumstance in "context"... the hooks are well hidden.

Default critical eye

Civil Unions btwn platonic, heterosexual Christians of the same sex is fine. Why? Because a civil union is not a marriage. I am of the group that believes marriage should be defined as being btwn one man and one women. If in the future God leads you to your soul mate, then marriage at that time is also fine after dissolution of the civil union.

If put to a vote, I would vote that marriage be defined as being btwn one man and one woman. Additionally if put to a vote, I would vote that civil unions be recognized as a platonic union btwn two people of the same sex. Your thoughts.

My thought is...so what do monogamous homosexuals do if they want the same benefits and rights under the law as married couples? As citizens of America, they are entitled to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness just like str8 people. They more than likely wont be happy knowing that they live in a country where should one of them become ill, the other has virtually no rights regarding medical care (as one example).

Also, regarding your vote on civil unions, how would anyone know, enforce or police the fact that the union stays platonic?
