These were my thots exactly! (I think you did answer the snake question already).

I love custom furniture building... either design it myself or look at something and design it from there. I built these all about 5 or 6 years ago; don't have any recent pics. I built a cradle for our firstborn, and a change table with a dresser/tower for our second... don't have pics of those.

cg, those are wonderful, loved the dresser (is that what you would call it or would it be called a vanity table?) with mirror especially. Where did you learn to do this?

Well.. maybe I inherited it! My grandfather was a furniture builder, and growing up every summer we would make the long trek to visit them in Pennsylvania. He had all the tools, so we loved to putter around in the woodshop.. I haven't had any classes, just kind of learn as you go. My dad encouraged us (my brother and I) and we had woodworking tools, went to craft sales (blew all our proceeds on a good meal afterwards, LOL! at least we have good memories). It's just something I love to do... kinda comes naturally.

Yes, a lot of patience is required, but it's fun so I keep doing it.

All of the photos that have been on this thread are beautiful! You guys are awesome!

Also, cg that is great furniture. My dad also does a lot of woodworking. It is a very useful hobby. I'm sure your wife loves you for it! I know my mom is always ready for a suggestion for his next project!

Well thanks! But please post your pics too! I like to see others' inspirations... You should have seen some of my first projects! One of my first dressers is falling apart... practice makes perfect. All of my projects have imperfections tho.. I like to think of them as "character"!

If I could do one thing just for me, I'd build me a shop and try my hand at woodworking. I've always wanted to do what you can do, cg81.

Incredible work! I think furniture making is a very noble art - which you are obviously very gifted at! I'm always impressed whenever I see the work of the Amish, as well.

Post The best things in life are free

I have really been enjoying looking at all the pics on here of everybody's talents!!! It reminded me that I LOVE to decorate and have been told I'm good at it. And THAT reminded me of...
One day was out walking a ways out in the country and I was admiring the Lord's handiwork. Unplanned by man was a couple wild flower plants, a tree and some other wild stuff. It was so beautiful! I said, Lord! That is so beautiful how you decorated out here! He then said to me, That's where you get it, from your daddy.
The best things in life are free.
Peace,
Jean
