Russia has navy bases in Syria.

Syria has a large Christian minority [one of the oldest Christian communities in the world.]

The vast majority of Syrian Christians support the more secular, pluralistic Assad because they may be endangered
if the Muslim opposition comes to power.

Vladimir Putin recently said that he will protect oppressed Christians worldwide.

Putin promises to protect Christianity worldwide — RT

The Russian Orthodox Church has asked Vladimir Putin to protect Syrian Christians.

" When Vladimir Putin sought support from Russia's religious leaders in his recent presidential election campaign
he pledged millions to reconstruct places of worship and for religious schools. The Orthodox Church said it did
not want the money, but asked Putin to promise to protect Christian minorities in the Middle East.

"So it will be," Putin said. "

I was looking at a YouTube Video on Psalm 83 relating to the Syria war, it was intersting.

Edom is mentioned in that Psalm.

Edom [descendants of Jacob's estranged brother, Esau, the evil one who God said He hated]
was Israel's enemy throughout the Old Testament.

When Babylon destroyed Jerusalem, it was the Edomites who destroyed the temple.

Over a century before the birth of Christ, the Prince/High Priest of Israel [he was both] won
a war against Edom. Then he did something very evil... something Israel never did before...
he forced the "conversion" of Israel's eternal enemy, Edom, and the Edomites became "jews."

At the time of Christ, the Edomite-jews had taken over the palace [Herod] and the temple
[Herod "remodeled" the temple, later called "Herod's Temple"] and sought to destroy Israel's
Messiah, Jesus Christ. This was a very crucial time in Israel's history, which is exactly why
God chose that specific time to incarnate.

How come very few if any of our presidents pledged publicly to protect christians worldwide? I don't even remember George W. Bush doing it, so it doesn't look like a partisan omission. Sure, they talk about protecting religious freedom in general worldwide, but what are they doing or did they ever do for christians in particular? Christians are suffering in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Saudi Arabia, China, even in Israel/Palstine, and so on, but all our leaders ever seem to talk about (especially the Religious Right) is being pro-Israel and and anti-Muslim extemist. Ok, now what about the christians? There is a pro-Israeli no matter what,-"Israel can do no wrong" Evangelical leader named John Hagee who started "Christians United for Israel," almost all the time on his TV program he discusses all his group does for Israeli Jews. That's fine, but he never mentions what (if anything) he and his group does for christians in Israel and the Palestinian territories. Why the omission from our leaders on both the Right and the Left? And why the omission from the pro-Israeli Religious Right (particularly as it concerns Palestinian Christians)?

It is is the prophecy from Revelations 16: 12-16... As the road to Armagaddon..... See this starts in Iraq , by the Euphrates River which is in Iraq where regime change came with the help of America and the British , which opened the door to Islamic domination in democracy.... Then it is coveted to the other Eastern Countries of Islam, Like Egypt, Lybia, , and the Western support the end of dictators and ended up with Islamic Republics free of Christians as these dictators held protection for many Christians ... All this is as Jesus is being kicked out of the nations who are having support with the West, and the frog spirit from verse 13 are this covetousness which spreads the message of the dragon the false prophet and antichrist..... .. these ideas take time for this kingdoms of the east to change their tune and get prepared ...... We just have to wait for the errors to grow and nations will gang up of Israel and get them selves into this great blunder of Armageddon , were these nations will rebel against Israel and go and fight against God interest.....

Good questions.

Vladimir Putin was recently in Bethlehem to visit Abbas, President of the Palestinian National Authority.

Putin had previously attended the unveiling of an Israeli Red Army memorial [many Red Army vets are jews who now live in Israel.]

The Israelis didn't like Putin also visiting the Palestinians.

While in Bethlehem, Putin visited the Church of the Nativity which is sacred to Russian Orthodox Christians like Putin.

Personally, I think Assad is destined to fall.

Like Saddam and Mubarak before him, Assad is secular and pluralistic.

The current trend in the Middle East seems to be against that kind of government.

That trend may not stop at the borders of the Middle East.

The Israeli state is secular too [otherwise Tel Aviv would not be the sodomite capital of the Middle East.]
