Jehova Witnesses follow a mistranslation of The Bible, much like The Mormons except they still retain the original Bible but have a false Gospel added on. The JW's follow the New World Translation, created by Charles Taze Russell, which has been regarded by all legitimate biblical scholars as being the most deliberately inaccurate translation of the original scriptures. It also is missing several books and Gospels, and denies the Trinity and Christ's divinity. They discourage free thinking among their members and shun anyone who questions their scriptures.

One of their main beliefs is that God's "True" name is Jehova and nobody's prayers are heard unless if they say Jehova. This is of course completely inaccurate as there was no such sound as "Ju" or "Je" in Hebrew Bible. They did not know God's name, it was considered too holy and sacred (hence why many Jews today write G-D instead of God), so the closest they said were YHWH or Adonai. Neither of these mean "God" as a literal name.

They also believe only they go to heaven and not to associate with outsiders, even their own family members who are not JWs, those who leave are shunned and considered dead. I respect the freedom of religion of all groups, but that does not mean that the JWs should not be put under scholary scrutiny. Even the Quran is far more accurate translation than the New World Translation. They are also highly legalistic and not Grace based, and do not contribute much to their communities as they do not vote and tend to get on Welfare, they also do not pursue higher education or occupations.

My brother is becoming a Jehova Witness, so I know this. I am a Christian, not a JW.

All of us should be like the Bereans. Read Acts 17:11.

So far everything you said is wrong, except maybe about your brother becoming a Jehovah's WQitness. Where do you get that stuff?

Everything I stated was true, none of it is false. Please explain what I stated that was ''wrong'' ? I know far more about Jehova Witnesses than most Jehova Witnesses themselves, hence why my brother no longer is allowed to see me, the JWs told him that I am an agent of the devil and trying to corrupt him, so he has ''Shunned'' me from his life simply because I told him that Jehova is not God's name and his text is a factual mistranslation.

The funny thing about all this, I don't care that he wants to be a Jehova Witness. I support the Freedom of all Religions, he however sent a lot of JWs to my house constantly and I finally challenged him so he would stop. He needs to respect me if he wants me to respect him. One of the DUMBEST things about JW theology is their discouragement of Free Thinking! They tell their members to never question their New World Translation or they will face Shunning.

Nope you know far less than you think. probably getting it from the stupid and false anti-Witness web sites.

Let me help you with the name.

First "Jehovah" is the ENGLISH translation of God's name. Just as Jesus is. Neither match the original Hebrew or Greek exactly.

Strong's: 3068 Yehovah {yeh-ho-vaw'} Meaning: Jehovah = "the existing One" 1) the proper name of the one true God 1a)

Jehovah - Definition for English-Language Learners from Merriam-Webster's Learner's Dictionary[singular]
used as the name of God in the Old Testament of the Bible

http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/08329a.htm
Jehovah (Yahweh) Catholic Encyclopedia
The proper name of God in the Old Testament; hence the Jews called it the name by excellence, the great name, the only name, the glorious and terrible name, the hidden and mysterious name, the name of the substance, the proper name, and most frequently shem hammephorash, i.e. the explicit or the separated name, though the precise meaning of this last expression is a matter of discussion (cf. Buxtorf, "Lexicon", Basle, 1639, col. 2432 sqq.).
Jehovah occurs more frequently than any other Divine name. The Concordances of Furst ("Vet. Test. Concordantiae", Leipzig, 1840) and Mandelkern ("Vet. Test. Concordantiae", Leipzig, 1896) do not exactly agree as to the number of its occurrences; but in round numbers it is found in the Old Testament 6000 times, either alone or in conjunction with another Divine name. The Septuagint and the Vulgate render the name generally by "Lord" (Kyrios, Dominus), a translation of Adonaiusually substituted for Jehovah in reading.

It is made up of 4 letters: YHWH

The "Y" is normally pronounced as Ye or Ya.

Next is "H"
IN the middle of a word it ALWAYS has a vowel, Normally an "O".

Now we see both used and pronounced in names using these syllables of God's name intentionally.
Yehoram
Yehonadab
Yehoshuphat
Yehoshua (Jesus name)

Next is the "W" which is pronounced "Wah".

The final letter "H" when sued at the end of a word is not pronounced at all it is silent.

These are all standard rules of he brew.

We get "YeHoWah" in Hebrew, which is translated JeHoVah in English.

This is well known in scholarly circles and avoided by those either wishing to ignore God's name or ignorantly attack Jehovah's Witnesses for using it.

Jehovah's name was in the first bible thousands of times!! It was removed and people put in titles like God or Lord!! In Jesus prayer he said to sanctify the fathers name... (Jehovah).. I am not a baptized witness but I have been studying with them and I have found no flaw in what they have taught me!! They allow you to use your own bible and there is no pressure to convert to a JW. They have very high morals and live by the book God gave us the bible!! I think that is very commendable

BTw,Jw's do not believe they are the only ones going to heaven.

Most know that they will be brought back to life on Earth.

The 144,000 is misinterpreted.

The 144,000 will be in heaven ruling with Jesus, while there will be millions on Earth who will enjoy perfect, everlasting life.
